MPG vs L/100km
Miles per gallon (MPG) measures how far you can travel per gallon. Liters per 100 km (L/100km) measures fuel needed per 100 km. The calculator converts between both automatically.
Fuel Cost Formula
Total cost = fuel needed × price per unit. Fuel needed is distance divided by efficiency (MPG) for miles, or (efficiency / 100) × distance for km. The result is split by passengers.
CO2 Estimation
Burning one gallon of gasoline produces about 19.6 lbs of CO2. The calculator multiplies gallons used by 19.6, then converts to kg for metric. This is an EPA-standard estimate.
